  • You must have sufficient funds to support your stay in the United States.
  • You intend to remain for a predetermined length of time.

What are the requirements for a B1 Visa?

All foreign nationals who intend to apply for a B1 Business Visitor Visa are required to satisfy the following criteria:

    • Travel to the United States for business
    • Only visit the United States for a limited time.
    • Be able to sustain themselves during their stay in the United States.
    • Maintain commercial connections with US partners
    • Have deep links to their native land
    • When their visa expires they must show their intent to depart the United States..
    • You must not have any other reasons preventing you from entering the United States, such as criminal convictions, involvement in terrorist activities, or prior violations of immigration regulations.

You must be able to produce documentation that you meet these requirements.

Can I apply for a green card if I have a B1 Visa?

Under the terms of a non-immigrant visa, including the B-1 visa, your stay in the United States will be time-limited. Therefore, as a B-1 visa holder, you will not be authorized to apply for a Green Card.

Nevertheless, certain non-immigrant visas are “dual intent visas.” Such as the B1/B2 Visa. A dual intent visa allows a non-US national to enter the United States with temporary status but permits the bearer to apply for an immigrant (permanent) visa if they match the requirements. In other words, they are permitted to apply for a change of status to lawful permanent resident whilst in the United States, despite having come for a temporary stay.

B-1 visas do not permit dual intent. However, you are permitted to apply for a change of status to a visa with dual intent, which will pave the way to a Green Card. If you are currently in the United States with a valid non-immigrant status visa, you may submit Form I-129 to request a change of status to a different classification and include evidence demonstrating your eligibility under the new visa category.

How long does it take to get a B1 Visa?

As part of the B-1 visa application process, you must attend an interview with the US Embassy or Consulate in your area. A consular officer will also ask you about the purpose of your travel, the finances you have available to cover your expenses, and your intentions for returning home. The interview itself may last a few minutes, but consular personnel must first collect, enter, and review your application. You must submit your biometric details and supporting documentation.

If your application for a visiting visa is approved, the usual processing time is approximately five business days. Your passport with your visitor visa will be returned to you by courier within two to three days. However, although the visit will, in may instances, be brief, the wait time for scheduling a visa appointment can be several weeks, if not months.

We cannot guarantee B1 visa issuance or visa processing times in advance. All times given for processing are only estimates. If you need a visa, we suggest that you apply well before the date you want to travel, and that you do not make any non-refundable travel plans until you have both your passport and visa. Appointments are not guaranteed as part of the service and can be booked up for months in advance.
